- Located right next to the Palacio de Carondelet, this building is of neoclassical style, and was built between 1917 and 1921 by the Italian architect Francisco Durini. Up until 1968, it was the home of the Banco Central (Central Bank). Today it has a library, rooms where you can listen to classical, Latin American and Ecuadorian music. It also has a video library with over 400 titles and a special Archivo de la Palabra, where conferences about history, music and literature are kept. Every Thursday at 5.30pm there are orchestral performances of classical music. Admission is free.
