Description:
This former mansion is now a family-run luxury maison d'hôte, and is quite possibly the finest accommodation in Rabat. Claudy Imbert, her daughters, and son-in-law have been welcoming guests into their 36-room "country house" in the city for 5 years, yet Villa Mandarine is still one of Rabat's, if not Morocco's, best-kept secrets. The rooms are set out on two levels surrounding a large central courtyard of palm trees, rose bushes, and a mosaic fountain. Tastefully furnished and personally decorated by Claudy herself, the well-appointed rooms are beautiful combinations of natural colors, Berber rugs, Moroccan lamps, and contemporary and traditional art works; all rooms have their own balcony. The public areas are numerous and include a rustic African bar, large lounge and library, billiards room and fireplace, and a private beauty salon with hammam, Jacuzzi, spa, and on-site masseuse. There's also an open and sunny restaurant serving fine international fare. The large grounds are dotted with citrus trees and have lots of private areas for reading and relaxing, along with a large swimming pool. Villa Mandarine is located in the southern suburbs, close to the Hilton, away from all the sights and restaurants, but the payoff is worth it for both travelers and businesspeople who are looking for class and character over convenience.

A bit out of town and a world of difference from the riads we stayed in in Fes and Marrakesh. This is comfortable, purpose built hotel and is a luxury many wouldn't want or need. ...
