Description:
Considering the quality of the food and the first-rate ingredients, this is Ravenna's best restaurant buy. A few steps from one of Ravenna's startling leaning towers, La Gardèla is spread out over two levels, with paneled walls lined with racks of wine bottles. The waiters bring out an array of typical but savory dishes, including spinach ravioli with poppy seeds; and spezzatino alla contadina (roast veal with potatoes, tomatoes, and herbs). Ravioli is stuffed with truffles, and one of the best pasta dishes, tagliatelle, is offered with porcini mushrooms. The chefs prepare more fresh fish than ever, most often from the Adriatic.
