- Reno is within very close proximity to some of the best camping in the Tahoe Basin and the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Even within the city limits there are a few campgrounds. If you want to stay close to downtown, you can park your RV at the Grand Sierra Resort or the Boomtown Casino just west of town. For a few campgrounds just outside of town, try Davis Creek Park about half an hour south of Reno or the Washoe Lake State Park campground. Both of these places offer access to nature, trees and some great views of the surrounding mountains.
