The Best of NileGuide
- The city of casinos and quickie divorces is still a kid-friendly town to visit. Many locals live in Reno because of its quality of life and family events such as Artown. For some fun indoors or outdoors you can take the kids up to Lake Tahoe or stay down in the Reno/Sparks/Carson City area. Some of the local casinos like Boomtown and Circus Circus have arcades, rides and shows for children. If you are looking for something a little more historical or cultural, take your kids to some of the art classes at the Nevada Museum of Art or tour the National Automobile Museum. The famous Virginia & Truckee Railroad is available for rides around Virginia City and Gold Hill and down into Carson City. If you stay down in Nevada's capital, visit the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada, the Nevada State Museum or the Nevada State Railroad Museum. For summertime in Reno, visit the interactive fountain at Victorian Square, the Great Reno Balloon Race, the Truckee River Whitewater Park or the Wild Island water park in Sparks. If your kids love sports, head to a Reno Aces game at the new stadium in downtown Reno.
