Virginia City

One of the most historic towns of the Comstock era, where Mark Twain worked and many found their fortune in gold and silver mines. The town looks much as it did a century and a half ago, with old time saloons, gift shops, restaurants and rickety wooden sidewalks. Each summer and fall this tiny town is hopping with the annual Camel Races, Street Vibrations motorcycle rally and Halloween ghost tours. You can also catch a ride on the Virginia & Truckee stream train down the hill to Gold Hill and to Dayton, just East of Carson City. A short 30 minute drive from Reno, Virginia City is a must-see.
