By Car -- From San Francisco, take I-80 East to Sacramento and on to Reno; from Salt Lake City, take I-80 West. From Los Angeles, take I-5 through central California to Sacramento and then I-80 to Reno. Be prepared for winter snowstorms that can make I-80 a chain-required highway.
