• Cuisines: Latin American
  • NileGuide Expert tip:

    Try the cheese pupusa.

  • Description:

    • This crowded little restaurant near the CalAve District is one of the best deals in town. The place itself is a bit of a dive, but the authentic El Salvadorian food is great for lunch, dinner or even a late night snack.

Most people come here for the great pupusas in various forms like chicken, pork, beans, cheese or seafood. These little pockets come with fresh salsa and a creamy sour cream and are less than $2 each. The entrees are typical Latin style like chicken and fish served with rice, beans, salads and other items like tamales, empanadas and and enchiladas. Entrees and mixed plates run about $6.95 to $10.95.

This place is also known for their cinnamon horchata and El Salvadorian sodas. The do not have fountain soda, but they do have some Latin brands of beer.

The menu is not fully translated into English and some of the staff only speaks Spanish, but this is a great place to practice your Spanish.
