Description:

The Animal Ark just north of Reno has strived to provide a safe haven for non-releasable wildlife. The exhibits are designed with the best materials and design to provide a comfortable place for the animal and a good viewing platform for visitor. Many of the animals kept here are predators and are normally shy, but can be seen easily in their enclosures. The Ark features, black bears, wolves, cheetah, tigers, mountain lions, coyotes, raptors and owls and some reptiles. Part of Animal Ark's commitment to the resident wildlife is not just providing food and shelter, but also a stimulating and rich habitat. All the animals receive stimulating activities and toys, food is hidden in the enclosure rather than simply given in a dish. Toys such as plain cardboard boxes and hard plastic balls are periodically provided. Unique scents are sprayed around enclosures and food items such as frozen foods and pumpkins are incorporated into daily care routines.

You will find plenty to see and do, including animal demonstrations and educational displays. Picnic areas are available, so bring a lunch and spend the day. From Reno take 395 north to exit 78. At Red Rock Road turn right and drive 11.5 miles to Deerlodge. Turn right at Deerlodge. Admission is $9 for adults, $6 for senior citizens and $6 for children 3-12.
