- Mount Rose Ski Tahoe is the closest ski resort to Reno, Nevada, located about 30 miles south of Reno on the eastern shore of Lake Tahoe. The base elevation is about 7,900 ft and the summit is 9,700 ft. Despite the name, the resort is actually on the slopes of Slide Mountain rather than Mount Rose, which is on the other side of Nevada State Route 431. There are over 60 runs on this mountain, the longest 2.5 miles long. The East Bowl (for more experienced skiers and boarders) has a great view of Washoe Valley and Carson City and contains the new Winter's Creek Lodge.
