Don't shy away from these condolike accommodations, which are increasingly common throughout Iceland. Apartments offer kitchens and more space for the money, and rooms are cleaned daily. They even wash your dishes, and will run to the store and stock your fridge, for 950kr ($15/£7.60) plus the grocery bill. No desk staff is available, but a buzzer can summon the manager by cellphone 24/7. Walls may be thin and bathrooms small, but beds are comfortable and service reliable. The units are in two separate properties, both equally central. Castle House is right on Tjörnin Pond and has the edge in scenery, while Embassy is west of the pond and offers more seclusion. If the apartment is ready, you can check in early without paying extra.
