Description:
Run by an Indian woman married to an Icelander, this is hands-down the best non-European restaurant in Iceland. The chefs hail from all over India, as reflected in the menu, which describes each regional specialty in detail. Freshness is not compromised at this latitude: Meat and fish are all locally produced, and imported herbs and spices are ground and mixed on-site. Indians know lamb, and Iceland has the world's best lamb meat, so put two and two together. Half the dishes are made in the tandoor oven, and the mixed lamb and chicken grill is stupendous. Ambience is casual but classy, with Indian antiques on display.
