The Cinenlandia area of downtown Rio takes its name from the fact that the square was once flanked with movie theaters, but Cine Odeon is the only one to have survived to this day.The handsome building has recently been given a top to toe refurb, and today is considered one of the best spots in the city for catching limited-release films and low-budget art house films as well as some major box office draws. Cine Odeon hosts lively film-centered events, such as Cachaca Cinema Clube, and entrance prices tend to be cheaper than at the larger multiplex cinemas in the city.
