- For excellent German beers and food, it's well worth taking the tram ride up the hill to Mike's Haus, in leafy Santa Teresa. This cozy little Bavarian-style drinking and eating den was apparently the favorite haunt of legendary Great Train Robber Ronnie Biggs, who lived in the neighborhood, and its not hard to see why. Here you can find tasty German beers such as Erdinger, which are virtually impossible to find elsewhere in the city. Food ranges from omelets and sandwiches to hearty German fare such as goulash. The home-made potato salad is legendary, and works very well with the ever-popular mixed sausage plate. - Lucy Bryson
