Bars and Clubs near Corcovado, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

  • As the highest point in the city, surrounded by dense jungle, it's not suprising that bars and clubs near Corcovado, Rio de Janeiro, are few and far between.

    There are, however, some great bars and clubs to be found in the neighboring areas of Santa Teresa, Lagoa and Laranjeiras, while Botafogo, the residential area that sits directly below the Christ Statue, has some of the most interesting nightlife in Rio.

    The closest nightlife neighbor to Christ the Redeemer is Clube Lagoinha, a Santa Teresa members club that hosts regular nightlife events that are open to the public. Check listings in advance, as this off-the-beaten-track bar and club offers spectacular views and even the chance for nocturnal swimming in the outdoor pool.

    A little further into Santa Teresa itself, Mike's Haus and Bar do Gomes are relaxed drinking and socialising options, while Simplesmente is a favorite among sociable nightowls.

    Should you make your descent via Lagoa and the Zona Sul rather than Santa Teresa, Bar Lagoa is a solid option, while in Botafogo, Drinkeria Maldita and Cinematheque JamClub are two interesting options with very good cocktail lists.
