  • Barra da Tijuca is not the place to head for if you're looking to delve deep into Brazilian culture, but if you're in the mood for beaches, shopping and blockbuster movies, this is the place. Things to do in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro are largely of the frivolous variety - how about a morning at the beach followed by an afternoon's retail therapy at Barra Shopping or Rio Design Barra? - but there is also scope to try your hand at watersports, or explore the wonders of nature at Casa do Pontal.
