  • Tourists visiting the Christ Statue needn't make do with hotdogs from the predictably overpriced snack bar, as there are plenty of good restaurants near Corcovado, Rio de Janeiro.

    Granted, these aren't right at hand when you visit 'the big guy', but exercise a little patience and you'll be well-rewarded when you descend from the mountaintop.

    There are several routes up to Corcovado, and many visitors will enter and leave either from Santa Teresa or Laranjeiras. Both offer good restaurants close to Corcovado, with Santa Teresa's Aprazivel (our number one pick) and Laranjeiras' Hideaway being two good options.

    Another route up to the statue runs from the Jardim Botanico neighborhood, and here too there are some excellent Rio de Janeiro restaurants, with Olympe and 66 Bistro both offering quality French food from members of the acclaimed Troisgros culinary family.
