Things to do near Corcovado, Rio de Janeiro, are certainly not limited to paying a visit to our number one pick, the world-famous Christ statue.
Corcovado mountain is the highest of the many mountains in Rio, and towers high above the trees of Tijuca National Park. The park itself is a nature-lover's paradise, with nature trails, waterfalls, and natural swimming pools. Just don't forget the mosquito repellent, and don't head here without an experienced guide - you may get lost!
Corcovado can be reached from Santa Teresa via the picturesque Paineiras Hike, and visitors spending time in the area will find it is well worth setting aside a few hours to explore the area and ride the famous bonde (tram).
Tandem hangliding is an increasingly popular activity in Rio de Janeiro, with those brave enough to make the jump from Pedra da Gavea well rewarded with a bird's eye view of arguably the most impressive cityscape anywhere in the world.
