Description:

  • More than 70 years since it opened, Adega Flor de Coimbra has changed very little in terms of its décor, ambiance and the traditional Portuguese dishes on the menu. This restaurant prides itself on sticking to tradition, and walking through the doors here is like taking a step back in time. As one might expect for a restaurant serving Portuguese cuisine, salted cod features heavily on the menu here, whether as a bar snack in a portion of bolinhos do bacalhau (cod and potato balls) or as a main dish with side vegetables. The bar was once the favorite haunt of Brazilian painter Cândido Portinari, and it remains a favored location among artists and intellectuals. - Lucy Bryson
