  • NileGuide Expert tip:

Head here after a visit to the lively Saturday antiques market at nearby Praca 15 de Novembro

  • Description:

    • In a vivid green tower overlooking Guanabara Bay, Albamar offers exceptional seafood dishes and equally exceptional views. The landmark circular tower takes in a 360 degree vista, and was formerly part of a public market building. Fish and seafood are the order of the day here, and shrimp dishes are paticularly good. Desserts, such as the queijo Minas (a semi-soft, salty white cheese from the state of Minas Gerais) served with guava and caramelised bananas, are tasty too. Prices start at around R$45 for main dishes, many of which serve two. Note that the restaurant closes at 6pm, so it's best visited for lunch or an early evening beer and bite to eat.

Good fish and seafood with great bay view

    • Albamar is a classic, with good service and cosine expertise in fish and seafood. To ensure bay view make reservations because tables close to windows are very crowded.
