• Fittingly located directly opposite the beach in suburban Botafogo, Aquarium serves very good sushi and temaki in a venue that has been fitted out to resemble the depths of the ocean. As you might expect, the fish and seafood options are the best of the 27 menu options here-the classic salmon, cream cheese and spring onion California Roll (which can be served hot or cold) is among the most popular orders. Also very good is the tuna temaki, and there are some tasty dessert dishes too, such as coconut biscuit served with rice pudding and brigadeiro (a sweet, sticky, chocolate topping very popular in Rio). - Lucy Bryson
