- Rio de Janeiro's legendary Sambódromo may only come to life during carnival, but that's not to say that the entire building lies dormant the rest of the year. When not hosting samba school parades, the main space takes on an alternave identity, as the Apoteose concert hall. Hosting a diverse array of big name acts that in recent years has included Radiohead, Coldplay, Guns and Roses and even the Jonas Brothers, the vast space is an excellent setting for major shows. Entrance tends to be expensive (as is the norm for international acts in Brazil), but students get half price entry.
