Description:

  • Santa Teresa's most celebrated watering hole, Bar do Mineiro is a veritable institution. The walls are hung with images of the great and good of the Tropicalia arts movement of the 1960s-70s, and the menu is made up of hearty dishes from Minas Gerais. The pasteis (a portion of fried pastries stuffed with cheese, black beans or meat) may not be waistline-friendly but they are an enduringly popular order, or you can skip the food and just make like the locals and order a beer to be sipped standing up at the entrance to the bar, watching the lively street scene.
