- If you're in the mood to do some serious shopping in Rio de Janeiro, BarraShopping should be your first port of call. This vast, US-style mall is the largest in the city, and here you'll find everything from chic bikini boutiques to chain stores. Bargain hunters beware, though, Rio de Janeiro is not a cheap place for fashion - high quality will usually cost you a pretty penny. There are some good deals to be had though, so be prepared to invest a few hours rooting out the best buys.
