NileGuide Expert tip:

If you're going to take a walk in Benjamin Constant's garden, be sure to bring insect repellent as mosquitoes are to be found in abundance

Description:

This museum is in fact the former home of Benjamin Constant, a Brazilian military leader, political theorist and one of the founding fathers of the Brazilian Republic. Anyone with more than a passing interest in Brazilian history will find it fascinating to walk around the house, preserved as it was when Constant lived here in the 1800s, but the real appeal is the leafy garden, which provides welcome respite from the sticky heat. While there is a nominal fee to enter the house itself (free on Wednesdays and Sundays), it's free to walk around the grounds.
