Description:
It's a little off the tourist track, but this attention-grabbing pink palace is well worth the Metro ride out to the Zona Norte. Formerly home to Brazilian royalty, the palace is now a museum showcasing items that once belonged to Emperor Pedro II and Empress Teresa. Kids are sure to be impressdby archeological and zoological finds such as the skull of a saber-toothed tiger skull and a giant meteorite, whle adults will be wowed by the sheer baroque grandeur of the place. The grounds are impressive, and are home to Rio's city zoo, so it's well worth setting aside a full day for a trip out here.
