Description:

  • A popular local restaurant since 1941, the Roanoker occupies a Colonial-style building surrounded by much-needed parking lots. Several dining rooms offer booth seating arranged to provide privacy. Antique signs from Roanoke businesses adorn the walls. At breakfast, the fluffy biscuits are the best I've ever eaten, either plain, sandwiching country ham or sausage, or covered in sausage gravy. Lunch and dinner specials change daily, depending on available produce. If you're lucky, the fresh vegetables will include skillet-fried yellow squash and onions, a mouthwatering Southern favorite.
