Teatro Tordinona

Description:

  • This theatre opened in 1700 and was the largest in the capital right up to 1800. Despite its fame, the building was destroyed to make way for the construction of new embankments on the Tiber. The theatre was reconstructed in the headquarters of the IACP, a short distance from its original location, and was inaugurated in the early 1900s. The name of the theatre was changed to Pirandello in 1948, but took back its original name in 1968. The theatre seats 96, and nearby eateries include Taverna Giulia (specialising in Ligurian dishes) and Le Streghe. Ticket prices vary.
