Vying to top are Hotel Gladiatori, newly christened as Palazzo Manfredi to along with amazing make-over from its art deco rooms to spectacular rooftop overlooking the Colosseum, and the Inn at the Roman Forum a very cozy and luxury boutique hotel in the natty Monti neighborhood. The Hotel Forum boasts the best view of the Forum itself, while the Palazzo al Velabro and Kolbe feel like you are sleeping in the Forum-- they are located on the "other side", a quiet, less touristy area of the Forum. Capo d'Africa is the Colosseum-areas second best hotel for quality and style. Head over to the quiet Aventine hill, overlooking both the Tiber river and Circus Maximus/Palatine complex, at the Sant'Anselmo and Domus Aventina.
