  • Piazza di Spagna is Rome's mecca for the uber chic, and those who just want a taste of La Dolce Vita. Hotels and B&Bs have sprung up like mushrooms in a forest, which means you never know if the hotel you are picking is stylishly delectable or vacation poison. For the very best, either stay high on the hill at the Hassler, the grand dame of hotels who commands the very best view in Rome, or ease on down the road to the Hotel de Russie, a very mod classic where you may rub elbows with international A-listers in the not-so-secret garden. La Scalinata and Hotel Gregoriana offer equally spectacular views of Rome's historic center but with a more modest vibe (and price) than the Hassler. For those looking to be in the center of it all, Ferragamo's Portrait Suites is center stage on via dei Condotti (the shopping street of Rome), and boasts a very private terrace all to the small boutique. For those looking for unique boutique with lean toward cheap, Casa Howard, Hotel Art, Babuino 181 and Crossing Condotti are a step in the right direction. Finally Hotel Valadier is a lovely lodging, on a quiet side road just off the Via del Babuino, Rome's more subtle shopping mecca.
