  • The Best of NileGuide
  • Rome may be a city for lounging lovers but its also a very vivacious cosmopolitan where just dodging the taxis, buses and scooters already constitute aggressive exercise. The historic center and all major monuments are easily reachable by foot, so isn't that enough? Not for the Type A-and the Eternal City knows that, hence the cornucopia of activities for the nevevr-sit-stills. Your best friend will be a great pair of sneakers, especially if you plan on taking advantage of Sight Jogging, a new eco-agro tourism trend where athletic "guides" literally run you from site to site, biking or aggressively walking the Ancient City. If you want to avoid the congestion, the best places for a run, bike or any cardio are the parks such as Villa Borghese, Appia Antica and even Ostia Antica, an excavation site 20 minutes outside of Rome (via train). Likewise a day at the beach will always be active.
