Museo di Roma in Trastevere

Description:

  • This museum is situated in a typical small square in Trastevere and housed in a former nunnery, the Convent of Sant'Egidio. This celebrated neighborhood was chosen as the location for this institution because it still preserves traces of the Roman popular culture. The Museum documents the local folklore and characteristic Roman traditions. A huge number of engravings and watercolors portray the daily city life of the last two centuries. A section is dedicated to the so-called Roman Scenes, life-size settings representing moments of common urban life at the beginning of 20th century (the inn, the chemist, the scribe). - Maria Frullini
