Vittoriano (Il)

Vittoriano (Il) - Rome
  • Type: Castles, Palaces & Historic Buildings
  • NileGuide Expert tip:

Head to the top, literally. In the back of the building is a great glass elevator taking you to the rooftop balcony for the most spectacular view of Rome

  • Description:

    • Il Vittoriano a fine white marble structure built by King Victor Emmanuel was inaugurated in 1911 and stands as a symbol of Italian unity. It has witnessed many moments of glory including the parades of Mussolini that took place outside it. The statue of Emmanuel stands tall in front of this magnificent building along with the tomb of the unknown soldier nearby. The whole place has a splendid look, as if it is a chariot with the king holding the reins. Your trip to Rome will be incomplete without a visit to this monument.
