    This modern ice cream parlour is a firm favourite with the crowds of tourists who flock to the capital. There's an excellent choice of ice creams with many cream and fruit flavours. It also serves coffee and pralines. As with many Roman ice cream parlours, there are open-air tables so you can sit down and enjoy a real "pausa".

Now you now what fun tastes like, it's time to get serious. Ciampini shall be your benchmark for all gelaterie as you compare and contrast basic flavors like pistacchio, fior di panna and cioccolato.

    This is a famous ice cream parlour in the centre of Rome with tables outside where, besides the traditional cream or fruit flavours, the owner presents specialities of his own invention, such as Pastiera (rice pudding with cinnamon or wild strawberries) and Amalfi lemon.

    Description:

    Al Settimo Gelo is considered one of the best gelateria (ice cream shops) in rome, and it consistently wins awards for its amazing all natural, homemade ice cream. The shop is tiny and somewhat hard to find, but worth the effort as the gelato is truly outstanding. Staff is patient -- used to its international customers who come in search of visciole (sour cherry), iraniano (with rose-water, almonds and saffron), greco (with yogurt, honey and pine-nuts) and several varieties of chocolate including one with peperoncini (hot peppers). Closed August.
