Description:
This eco-inn is run by the Jean-Baptiste family: Cuthbert, who handles the restaurant, and his wife, Anne Grey, a marine scientist. Their unique resort, 6km (3 3/4 miles) east of Roseau, stands right in the middle of Papillote Forest, at the foothills of Morne Macaque. In this remote setting, you're surrounded by exotic fruits, flowers, and herb gardens. The rooms are most inviting, with their hardwood floors, jungle-painted walls, floral quilts, and fresh flowers. Don't expect constantly sunny weather, since this part of the jungle is known for its downpours; however, that's what keeps the orchids, begonias, and brilliantly colored bromeliads lush. The 5 hectares (12 acres) of sloping and forested land have a labyrinth of stone walls and trails, beside which flow freshwater streams, a few of which originate in hot mineral springs. Natural hot mineral baths are available, and you'll be directed to a secluded waterfall where you can swim in the river.
