Description:
This small historic property stands in the center of town and was once a 1930s guesthouse run by "Mother" Harris, a matriarch who became a local legend. Destroyed by Hurricane David in 1979, Sutton Place was rebuilt in a traditional Caribbean style by the same Harris family, which continues the old traditions but with far greater style. Rooms are tastefully furnished with antiques, including four-poster beds, brass desk lamps, and teak furnishings in the shower-only bathrooms. Suites contain fully equipped kitchenettes. The staircase and floors of the suites are laid with a fine hardwood, tauroniro, from South America. Stylized floral arrangements, exotic prints, and luxurious fabrics contribute to the upscale style. The nearest beach is about 2km (1 1/4 mile) away.
