Don't be frightened by the skeletons on the sign; this coffee house is friendly and welcoming to everyone.

NileGuide Expert tip:
One of Salt Lake's best and most active, grassroots arts centers.
Keeping to its name, Alchemy Coffee maintains a funky, original, and alternative feel. Beginning with the skeletons on its sign, and continuing with the staff and decor inside, this is no national chain coffeehouse. However, this Liberty Wells business has become a staple of that neighborhood, serving all demographics - including its more conservative members. Inside, you can enjoy an ever-changing collection of local art on the walls, live music many nights a week, homemade soups and sandwiches, and delicious coffee and non-caffeinated drinks. Sharing its parking lot with a tattoo parlor and yoga studio, and standing across the street from a pottery shop, this is the nucleus of an up-and-coming artsy district in Salt Lake.
