• Koyo is located southeast of downtown -in the Millcreek residential area south of I-80, near the Wasatch Mountains, downhill a bit from Millcreek Canyon. Not to be confused with the other nearby and very popular Japanese restaurant located in Sugarhouse, Kyoto, Koyo holds its own. In business for many years, this draws a crowd of neighborhood locals and repeat customers -some who have been loyal for decades because of its excellent cuisine and somewhat reasonable pricing. This tidy restaurant has neat landscaping as well as a clean interior. Because of its out-of-downtown location, Koyo comes with no parking hassles -even so, its popularity renders reservations a good ideal; call ahead. Recommended items include sukiyaki, tempura shrimp, and sushi. Those especially concerned with money should consider coming here for lunch, when the prices are lower. Regardless, the portions of meat, fish, and vegetarian dishes are generous, authentic, and delicious.
