• In a generally conservative state, this burnt-red-and-orange, hot house of "killer Mexican food" has been a Salt Lake institution for decades. The Red Iguana offers some deeply tasty dishes of the meat and vegetarian variety. If you look online, you'll see a long list of first-place awards and press coverage. The Red Iguana has really earned it and stands heads and shoulders above the other plentiful, more generic Mexican joints in town.
  
  If you go there, be sure at least one person in the group orders one of their seven famous Oxacan moles. Watch out: The Red Iguana takes no reservations, and this place can get quite crowded. Service is quick, so you won't have to wait long for a table-- but it's definitely best to shoot for an earlier or later dinner time to avoid the worst crowds. Try arriving at 5:30 or 8:30 -otherwise you might find yourself lined up behind 10 other parties. If that ends up being the case, don't worry; the service at Red Iguana is fast, and you'll be seated much sooner than you'd think.
