• When compared with its down-canyon neighbor, Snowbird Resort, Alta is much more low-key and quiet. Foregoing the contemporary trend of trams and massive resort infrastructure, Alta has modernized where necessary –but hasn't when possible. The result is a cozy ski area devoid of massive condominium complexes. Though Alta has no trams, it has plenty of lifts and unending terrain, hidden powder stashes, and back bowls to explore.
  
  If you're rather fit and would appreciated some cardiovascular exercise in your ski day, Alta is the place for you. With many of its lifts terminating away from the best ski runs, Alta requires some hiking to be able to hit many of its great lines. These remote spots are therefore less trafficked, and wait as a perfect reward for those willing to work.
