Description:

Solitude Mountain Resort sits in the upper reaches of Big Cottonwood Canyon. Its slopes are characterized by more moderate terrain than that at some of the other Wasatch resorts. And with 1,200 acres, Solitude is also much smaller than Snowbird or The Canyons. However, Solitude is nevertheless sufficiently large and challenging enough to entertain even the most accomplished skiers. Case in point: Solitude is 160% the size of the famous New England resort, Killington. And one other major feature that it lacks is: crowding. Compared with any other Salt Lake-area resort, Solitude offers vastly more... solitude.

Beyond its downhill slopes, Solitude offers one of Utah's better groomed Nordic skiing trail systems. Given the elevation and terrain, these 10 kilometers form a strenuous training grounds. At the Nordic Center, you can also rent any type of Nordic gear, as well as snowshoes.
