- Salzburgers love to eat and they maintain many 5-star restaurants in their home city. Visit the St. Peter Stiftskeller Restaurant in Salzburg. It is the oldest restaurant in Europe, housed in the abbey of the church that supposedly brought Christianity to Austria. The Pasta Vino restaurant and shop offers delicious homemade Italian pasta to eat in or take away. When you enter the shop you feel as if you are in Northern Italy. Another great place for housemade Italian pasta is Pasta and Vino Restaurant. Restaurant Wasserfall can prove difficult to find, as the entrance to the Linzergasse seems to lead you into a dark alleyway, but it's definitely worth the effort. A small waterfall leads through the restaurant, so guests dine with the gentle sound of falling water. Restaurant Kohlpeter is a charming rustic place, despite being located at the center of town, with the atmosphere of a country inn. There is much more to the 5-star restaurant scene in Salzburg than schnitzel - even sushi - so save some room and enjoy all the fine dining the city has to offer.
