- Cuisines: Austrian
NileGuide Expert tip:
After enjoying your meal, explore this old neighbourhood.
- The dining room of the Hotel Hartlwirt, located in the quiet old town of the village of Liefering at the edge of Salzburg, Restaurant Hartlwirt serves traditional Austria fare heavily influenced by the Stryian province, the homeland of its chef. It is popular with hotel guests and locals alike; in fact, many afternoons the function rooms are abuzz with the meetings of many local social and hobby clubs. With a shaded Biergarten overlooking the historic Gothic parish church of Liefering (with an unusual octagonal tower), it makes a nice place to get away from the city centre on a warm afternoon. Inside the bar opens onto a somewhat more formal dining room. A popular favourite is Styrian roast chicken salad with pumpkin seed oil. The salad bar is varied and fresh. Restaurant Hartlwirt is accessible from the motorway (Salzburg Mitte exit) or from the number 4 bus.
