- San Antonio is hot in the summer and warm even in the winter, so you should look for a hotel where you can cool off and kick back. You can relax in luxury in one of the suites, guest rooms or private cottages at the Prince Solms Inn Bed and Breakfast, which is located in New Braunfels, gateway to the Texas Hill Country. A registered Texas heritage landmark, the inn has been in continuous operation since it was built by German craftsmen in 1898. The recycling of downtown historic buildings is an admirable trend but there's also something to be said for new construction when it's done right, which it is at the Westin River Walk, a property designed to blend in architecturally with the older structures that surround it. Drury Inn and Suites San Antonio Riverwalk is a family-owned, historic hotel overlooking Riverwalk. Everything's not always bigger in Texas. Sometimes, as in many of the hotels of San Antonio, they're on a smaller and more intimate scale. And that's just fine.
