    • Behind the restaurant is the barbecue pit, where they prepare the tasty carnivorous bits and sell take-out. You can order large volumes of meats and side dishes for parties with advance notice. Food at the Bun 'N' Barrel is straight-up Texas barbecue. Slide onto a counter stool or scoot into a booth to order slabs of ham, turkey, beef or pork served along with potato salad, pinto beans, slices of onions and pickles, and good ole white bread. What they know best is meat, and they serve a homemade sauce that's tangy, not sweet. The same goodies are available in sandwich form. Not exactly a trendy youth spot, this roadside stop serves a crowd that includes dusty cowboys from back when San Antonio had ranches just off Austin Highway.

    • We stopped here on way out of San Antonio. Seen on diners drive in and dives . I had beef brisket sandwhich, hubby had rib plate . Wow was it good , loved it . Husband loved his also...
