- This alternate airport, located a little less than an hour away from Palm Springs, is served by Alaska, Delta, Northwest, TWA, United, America West, American, Continental and Southwest airlines, with connections to international flights to Amsterdam, Beijing and many other major cities. It's the "other" airport for Palm Springs residents flying on larger commercial aircraft. The airport is much quicker and cheaper to use than LAX. Travelers are advised to rent a car from one of the six major on-site agencies, because taxi service to Palm Springs, while available, will be expensive.
