• In a strip mall on the corner of El Cajon Blvd. and 54th St., Elan Desserts is a perfect place to get away from the heat. A flat screen television sets the mood for this small space of sandy yellow and burgundy walls. On the ceiling, track lighting illuminates the walls and sets the tone; lamps hang in the center of the ceiling, above a counter of various dessert toppings. Elan Desserts serves various slushes, such as their Mango Lychee Slush or Strawberry-Lemonade Slush. They serve smoothies, Vietnamese Iced Coffee, and Boba tea, as well as French dip coffee, and various Vietnamese desserts. - Erick Pettersen
