• This competition, hosted by the San Diego Tennis Federation over Fourth of July weekend every year, is geared toward the gay community of the city. However, the games are open to one and all, and are a magnet for all tennis nuts. The event is getting better-known as the years go by, and even attracts the odd international pro. If you can wield a racket with ease, go on and participate; those who lose in the first round have a chance to save face in the singles consolation tournament. Women who feel like sparring with the men in their field have ample opportunity to do so here, as players can cross divisions and levels. A banquet precedes the games, where contenders and fans can rev up their spirits.
