Top 10:

Beach Cities - San Diego Bars and Clubs

  • The Best of NileGuide

  • Most of the more unique things about most beach cities bars is that they don't just serve liquid poison, but offer a whole supply of entertaining goods to appease their clients. The most interesting offerings aren't just the bar grub or the people watching, but the entertainment. Up and down the coast - particularly in Solana Beach, Pacific Beach and Banker's Hill - the best entertainment always comes with a beer in hand.

One of the nationally recognized entertainment hubs just a block from the 101 is Belly Up, an alternative music hall that prepares locals for the next best thing - hot acts like Joshua Radin, the Beach House and local house bands perform here nightly.

Down the coast a little bit, locals are surprised to find an array of musical powerhouses in Pacific Beach. On a little strip known as Garnet, pubs/bars/nightclubs/concert halls offers patrons locally infused entertainment with their brew. Some of the best include 710, Johnny V's and PB Bar & Grill, though most often the best entertainment isn't included in your bar tap, but can be found just on the street.

Downtown features all of the normal jaunts like House of Blues and the Civic Center, but if you want to really enjoy the grit and grim of the city, enter into something a little more unusual - like Casbah, Soma, 4th & B and Anthology. The more traditional stuff goes inland - like San Diego Sports Arena or Cricket Wireless, so head toward the beach to enjoy some spectacular secrets.
