North Park used to be one of those places locals used to avoid, and even to this day, despite recent renovations, many sheltered residents aren't too interested in broadening their horizons. For the adventurous spirit who is willing to try just about anything coming your way, North Park is the hipster version of downtown. Great restaurants and bars line two of the main blocks diving this neighborhood from its southern friend, featuring night club favorites like Bluefoot and U-31.
Don't think that just because this indie neighborhood is filled with emo-listening unksters that the bars/ nightclubs are all the same. Each has a very distinctive audience, and if you're too scared about totally plunging into the wild side of things, there;s always True North.
However well established True North might be, it isn't a valuable location to embrace the true neighborhood aesthetic. Get your groove on at Bar Pink, or your techno fix at U-31; for simple bar fanatics there is Bluefoot, and of the romantic catch a glass of Pinot at Mosaic Wine Bar.
The crowds are a mixture of traditional residents and those that come from afar, but luckily for everyone they typically have a few things in common: a love for great music and cheap drinks. There are endless possibilities adding up to a great evening out, particularly if you start with dinner at one of the famed local finds like Urban Solace, Alchemy, Sea Rocket Bistro, The Linkery or Spread.
